Other Common name: white-flowered gourd, calabash gourd, Long melon. Local name :Sorakai, lauki or giya. The young plant part (fruit) utilized as a vegetable in preparations similar to that for squash. The seeds, containing 45 percent oil, can be pressed for cooking oil. The Bottle gourd has a rich history and was one of the first cultivated plants in the world. |
